Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Ricecooker, LLC, a New York limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"), handles information in connection with Kibble, our macOS screen recording and video editing application ("Kibble" or the "App"), and our website at kibble.video (the "Website").

We built Kibble to be a local-first tool. Your recordings and projects stay on your Mac. This policy explains what little data we do handle, why, and how.

The short version

Kibble is a desktop app — your recordings, projects, and exports never leave your computer unless you choose otherwise. The only personal information we collect is your email address if you download the App from our Website. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your content to train AI models.

1. Information the App handles (on your device)

All of the following data is created and stored locally on your Mac. None of it is transmitted to us or any third party unless you explicitly opt in to a feature that requires it:

  • Screen recordings, camera recordings, and audio
  • Cursor position and event data
  • Voiceover audio clips
  • Project files and edit state
  • Exported videos and preview caches
  • App preferences (selected camera, microphone, settings)

We do not have access to your content unless you opt in to a feature that requires server-side processing (such as cloud storage or sharing, if offered in the future). We will always ask for your consent before transmitting any content off your device.

We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not share your content with third parties for their own purposes.

On-device speech recognition

Kibble offers optional transcription powered by Apple's on-device speech recognition. This processing runs entirely on your Mac — no audio data is sent to Apple's servers or to us.

Note: macOS may display a system permission dialog suggesting that speech data could be sent to Apple. This is a generic system message. Kibble explicitly requests on-device-only recognition, and your audio stays local.

MCP integration

Kibble can optionally expose a local server using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to allow external AI coding tools to edit projects programmatically. This connection operates entirely on your local machine. You must opt in and configure it yourself. No data is transmitted to us through this feature.

2. Information we collect

Email address (via the Website)

When you download Kibble from our Website, we ask for your email address. This is the only personal information we actively collect. We use it to:

  • Send you the download link
  • Send occasional product updates, announcements, and release notes

You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time using the link in any email we send. To request deletion of your email address, contact us at hello@kibble.video and we will process your request within 30 days.

Website analytics

We use analytics tools on our Website to collect anonymous usage data, including page views, referral sources, and general usage patterns. This helps us understand how visitors find and navigate our site. We do not use session recordings or collect personal information through our analytics tools. You can opt out of analytics by enabling a "Do Not Track" setting in your browser.

Auto-update checks

Kibble periodically contacts our servers to check for updates. This request includes your app version and platform, which is standard for the update mechanism. We do not log this information on our end, though our hosting providers may process the request per their own privacy policies.

Optional diagnostics (if enabled)

We may offer optional diagnostic or error reporting features in the App. If we do, these will always be opt-in — we will clearly explain what data is collected and ask for your consent before sending anything. Diagnostic data will never include your recordings, projects, or other creative content.

3. Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the Website, deliver emails, host updates, and process payments. A current list of these services — including what data they receive and links to their privacy policies — is available at kibble.video/subprocessors.

We may update our list of third-party services from time to time as our infrastructure evolves. We will always keep the subprocessors page current.

4. How we protect your information

For the personal information we hold (email addresses), we rely on the security infrastructure of our service providers, which includes industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.

For local data stored on your Mac, security is handled by your operating system's built-in protections (FileVault, macOS sandboxing, permission controls). We recommend keeping your Mac's security features enabled.

5. Data retention

  • Email addresses are retained on our mailing list until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Website analytics data is retained in aggregate form. We do not retain analytics data that identifies individual visitors.
  • Local app data is stored on your Mac for as long as you keep it. Uninstalling Kibble does not automatically delete your project files. You can delete them at any time.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing.

Since the only personal information we hold is your email address on our mailing list, exercising these rights is straightforward: contact us at hello@kibble.video and we'll take care of it within 30 days.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA)

Our legal basis for processing your email address is your consent, which you provide when submitting the download form. You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us. For auto-update checks, website analytics, and web server logs, our legal basis is legitimate interest in providing and improving the App and Website.

The data controller is Ricecooker, LLC. If you submit your email address, it may be transferred to and processed in the United States by us and our service providers. These providers participate in recognized data transfer frameworks.

For users in California

We do not sell or share your personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not use your information for targeted advertising. California residents can request deletion of their email address by contacting us at hello@kibble.video.

7. Children's privacy

Kibble is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at hello@kibble.video and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the App. The "Last Updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision.

If we introduce features that process your content on our servers, or begin collecting new categories of personal information, we will update this policy before those features launch and seek your consent where required.
